Course Description:
The focus of this course is to equip mental health professionals with the knowledge, research, and evidence-based interventions to provide effective services to individuals who suffer from HIV/AIDS. In addition to gaining basic knowledge about disease progression, transmission, and risk factors, the course also allows professionals to assess their own beliefs, attitudes, and biases around the disease. This course provides information about mental health issues surrounding this unique population and evidence-based treatment interventions they can use. Finally, because mental health professionals can play an important role in prevention, this course provides research-based strategies for early prevention that can be used by all mental health professionals, no matter what type of service they provide.
