Course Description:
The focus of this course is to provide mental health professionals with evidence-based assessments and treatment interventions that they need to quickly recognize, evaluate, and act on potential life-threatening situations in regard to suicidality. The course also helps professionals to understand the differences between suicidal thoughts and suicidal behaviors. It also provides vital information for mental health professionals to be knowledgeable about research-backed approaches to identifying warning signs. Finally, the course provides an understanding of the heightened risks when substance use is involved as well as critical protective factors that can prevent and reduce harm.
